High-End Kitchen Designer & Builder Charlottesville

There's no template for a custom kitchen. Every Integrity Design + Build project starts with what's actually wrong with your current one and ends with a finished space backed by a 15-year structural warranty.

What Makes a Custom Kitchen Worth the Investment

Standard kitchen remodels follow a predictable template. Pull out the old cabinets, install nicer ones, swap the counters, update the appliances, repaint, done. The result is better than what came before, but it doesn’t fundamentally change what the kitchen is or how the family uses it.

A custom kitchen project goes deeper. The starting question isn’t “what should we replace?” It’s “what kind of kitchen does this household actually need?” Sometimes that means relocating walls, expanding the footprint, redesigning the workflow, or rebuilding the entire space around a single centerpiece like a 12-foot island or a statement range with a custom hood.

That difference is why Integrity has built 100+ custom kitchens across central Virginia over twenty years. Designer John leads the visioning and rendering phase. Project manager Rob handles execution. Daily project updates throughout construction mean you’re never wondering what’s happening on a given Tuesday.

The materials reflect the project tier. J&K solid wood cabinetry, dovetail drawer joinery, named-slab quartzite and quartz countertops, integrated panel-ready appliance packages, layered lighting that transforms how the room functions. Every selection sized for decades of daily use.

Pretty much a full first floor remodel with complete kitchen redo. Integrity really spent a lot of planning time on working through some complex challenges to what we wanted and their creativity and engineering really came through.

Our expanded kitchen is unique, functional and perfect! Came in on budget with extras!

Integrity did a tremendous job with the work that they did on our house.

The project they took on was quite extensive but they did quality work within the time frame promised. I would recommend them to all my friends.

What a Custom Charlottesville Kitchen Actually Costs

Most custom kitchens at this tier run six figures, averaging around $112,000. The variability comes from how ambitious the project gets on three specific dimensions: structural reconfiguration, material selection, and specialty feature scope.

A recent Integrity project lands as a good reference point:

Project Element Detail
Total cost $140,000
Location Charlottesville, VA
Centerpiece feature Hilite Calacatta Statuary quartz with matching backsplash and custom walnut counter ($16,000)
Cabinetry J&K Maple with in-drawer charging outlet
Lighting Graypants Scraplights Moon + Nancy B's mini pendants
Plumbing fixtures Hansgrohe Talis N pull-down faucet, Blanco Precis 32" SILGRANIT sink
Hardware Atlas Homewares Thin Square pulls + Browning mushroom knobs
Structural Soundproofed kitchen wall, refinished oak hardwood flooring

The dimensions that move the budget on a project like this are layout work (walls, footprint, plumbing relocation), counter and slab tier (named slabs versus standard quartz), and the appliance package (integrated panel-ready versus standard models).

Specialty features like soundproofed walls, butler’s pantries, walk-in pantries with pull-out systems, and statement islands also stack up significantly when included.

Kitchen Projects That Stay on Schedule and Within Budget

A high-end kitchen remodel is a substantial decision, and a well-managed project removes most of the stress that comes with it. The team plans carefully on the front end and runs the work on a schedule you can plan your life around, so the project finishes when expected and lands at the number you signed up for.
Budget: Think of a custom kitchen as a daily-use upgrade rather than a one-time cost. The kitchen gets used multiple times a day for the next 15 to 20 years and serves as the centerpiece of how your home presents to family and guests. Spread across that timeline, the investment becomes one of the smartest home decisions you’ll make.
Timeline: The team respects your space and your routine. Crews arrive when they say they will, keep the work area clean, and finish on the schedule mapped out during the consultation. Active construction on a custom kitchen runs 2 to 3 months, with the broader timeline (design, permits, materials) averaging around 6 months from first call to final walkthrough.

Things Homeowners Ask Before Booking

Most custom kitchens at the Integrity tier run between $90,000 and $160,000. The $112,000 average reflects standard high-end scope with premium materials. Projects that include significant structural work or premium appliance packages push higher.
Because the design defines the scope, and the scope defines the price. Trying to give a number before seeing the kitchen and understanding the vision produces a wrong number, and wrong numbers create problems later. The consultation walks through both together.
The active construction phase runs 2 to 3 months, with the kitchen out of commission during most of it. Most families set up temporary kitchen arrangements in a dining room or basement with a microwave, hot plate, and small fridge. The rest of the house stays accessible.
Changes are usually possible, with the cost and timeline impact documented in writing before anything proceeds. Bigger changes (moving plumbing, adding scope) involve more careful conversation than smaller ones (switching a faucet finish).
That comes up frequently. Refinished hardwood, new flooring, and adjacent finish work often fall into the kitchen project scope when the surrounding rooms need to coordinate visually with the new kitchen.
Yes. Service area includes Ivy, Lake Monticello, Pantops, and the broader Albemarle County footprint.
One phone call. Structural work is formally covered for 15 years and finish work for 3 years, with John’s standing commitment to address anything that falls short regardless of timeline.
